What is the Temic PLD Module

The Temic PLD Module (also called MR - Motor Module) is the electronic injection control unit for Mercedes-Benz trucks and buses with the PLD (pump-line-nozzle) system. It individually controls each injector unit of the engine — unlike common rail, where there is a centralized rail, in PLD each cylinder has its own unit that generates pressure at the exact moment of injection, reaching up to 1,600 bar.

The Temic PLD module equips Mercedes-Benz's Actros, Axor, Atego, Citaro, and Econic lines, covering OM904 (4-cylinder), OM906 / OM926 (medium 6-cylinder), OM457 (heavy-duty 6-cylinder), and OM501 / OM502 (V6 and V8 of the Actros) engines.

⚠️ Attention: the PLD system is not common rail. If your truck is an Actros MP4 (2011 onwards) with an OM471 or OM473 engine, the module is different — please contact us before sending it.

Why the module fails

The weakest point of the Temic PLD is the TSOP/EEPROM memory, which stores the individual injection calibration of the engine. This memory is sensitive to situations that any heavy-duty truck faces over the years:

Battery voltage drop — the most common case. A deep discharge, alternator problem, or electrical instability can corrupt the recorded calibration. The engine starts operating with incorrect data or simply doesn't start.

Aging and thermal cycles — the memory and injector drive drivers degrade over time and with temperature variations near the engine block.

Connector damage — the 55-pin connector that links the module to the wiring harness is vulnerable to corrosion, moisture, and breakage due to vibration. Oxidized contacts cause intermittent failures and incorrect sensor readings.

External short circuit — a problem in an injector or damaged wiring can lead to excessive current flowing back to the module, damaging the internal power drivers.

In all these cases, the module needs bench repair — there is no OBD reprogramming that can fix damaged hardware.

PLD or ADM — how to know which one to send

The Mercedes PLD electronic system uses two Temic modules that work together. Before sending, confirm which one is defective:

PLD / MR Module (this product) ADM / FR Module (separate product)
Location On the engine, next to the block In the cabin, behind the dashboard
Function Controls each injector unit individually Reads the accelerator pedal and sends the command to the PLD via CAN
Main symptom Black smoke, cylinder misfiring, engine in emergency mode Engine unresponsive to pedal, stuck speed limiter

Practical rule: smoke or misfiring cylinder with OK wiring → PLD. Engine unresponsive to pedal or stuck limiter → ADM.

How to identify your module

The OEM number is on the adhesive label attached to the Temic module casing. It has two numbers:

  • Mercedes Number (e.g., A 001 446 XX 40) — original Mercedes-Benz part number
  • Temic Code (e.g., 0006395B1) — firmware code recorded in the module

Copy both before contacting us. With these numbers, we confirm exactly which version you have, if we have a remanufactured unit available, and what the lead time is. If the label is illegible, provide the model, engine, and year — our team identifies it by configuration.

Always confirm the OEM number on the physical module label before sending — the same vehicle may have received a replacement with a different number over the years.

How the service works

You send us the defective module. Our bench conducts the diagnosis, sends you a quote for approval, and after confirmation, performs the repair and returns the module with an invoice and a 90-day technical warranty. We serve all of Brazil — local pickup and delivery available in CE and PR.

📦 Average lead time: 7 to 15 business days after receipt.

To expedite, please have the following ready when contacting us: truck model, engine, and the OEM number from the module's label.

Exchange Program

If the truck cannot wait, we also offer a remanufactured module for immediate exchange — you send us your defective module as part of the payment and receive a unit that has already been bench-tested, without waiting for the repair time.

Feasibility depends on the condition of the module sent and stock availability. Describe the history via WhatsApp, and our team will assess it without obligation.

Warranty

90-day technical warranty from the date of receipt, covering defects related to the repair. It does not cover damage caused by incorrect installation, overvoltage in the vehicle, or external electrical problems to the module.
