Technical Warranty

Version: 1.1, August 2026
This policy describes in detail the warranty conditions applicable to the repair services and to the modules sold by ECM Tech Center, in accordance with the CDC (Código de Defesa do Consumidor, Brazilian Consumer Protection Code), art. 26 and 18 and with the company's technical specifications.
1. REPAIR SERVICE WARRANTY: 90 DAYS
1.1 Term and counting
The repair service warranty is 90 (ninety) calendar days, counted from the proven date on which the customer receives the repaired module (Correios delivery receipt or confirmation via WhatsApp).
1.2 What the warranty covers
The warranty covers the recurrence of the same functional defect described in the technical report issued by ECM Tech Center. For the purposes of interpreting this clause, "same functional defect" means:
- The same electronic failure symptom documented in the diagnosis (e.g.: lost CAN communication, specific injector failure, memory corruption);
- Failures in the components replaced during the original repair;
- Premature degradation of soldering or assembly performed during the repair.
The appearance of a failure in another circuit or component of the module unrelated to the repair performed does not constitute the "same functional defect".
1.3 What the warranty does not cover
The warranty is automatically voided in the following situations:
a) Causes external to the repair:
- Physical damage from impact, dropping or compression after receipt;
- Damage from moisture, immersion or excessive condensation after receipt;
- Short circuit caused by faulty wiring, a damaged wiring harness or reversed polarity in the vehicle;
- Overvoltage or undervoltage beyond the module's specifications (generally ±10% of the rated voltage);
- Electrostatic discharge (ESD) during handling without proper grounding procedures.
b) Unauthorized intervention:
- Opening, disassembly or intervention on the module by third parties (another technician, another workshop) during the warranty period without prior written authorization from ECM Tech Center;
- Any undocumented attempt at additional repair.
c) Incorrect use:
- Installation in a vehicle with an electrical configuration different from that specified in the technical report (e.g.: a gasoline engine module installed in a flex-fuel vehicle without the calibration having been performed);
- Use of the module outside the temperature, voltage or frequency specifications indicated by the manufacturer.
1.4 Warranty analysis
Upon receiving a module under a warranty claim, ECM Tech Center performs a complete technical diagnosis before reaching any conclusion. The result is communicated to the customer with a written report describing: the identified cause of the defect, whether or not it is covered by the warranty, and the next steps. In case of disagreement about coverage, ECM Tech Center may request an independent expert report as a resolution step.
2. WARRANTY FOR NEW MODULES: 90 DAYS
New modules have a warranty of 90 (ninety) calendar days from receipt, covering manufacturing defects not evident at the time of delivery (hidden defects), under art. 26, II, of the CDC. The exclusion conditions are the same as those described in Section 1.3 above.
3. WARRANTY FOR TESTED USED MODULES: 30 DAYS
3.1 Selection and testing process
Before being listed for sale, used modules go through the following protocol on the ECM Tech Center bench:
- Complete visual inspection (physical components, connectors, PCB traces);
- Memory reading and firmware integrity check;
- Functional test simulating the vehicle's operating conditions;
- Communication test on the applicable protocols (CAN, K-Line, LIN);
- Modules that fail any step are excluded from sale.
3.2 Term and coverage
The contractual warranty for rework at no cost is 30 (thirty) calendar days from receipt, covering functional defects not detected by the tests above. Used modules do not carry a full service-life warranty equivalent to that of new modules, and this is stated in the product listing.
Legal note: the end consumer retains the right to claim hidden defects within 90 days of receipt, in accordance with the limitation period of art. 26, II, of the CDC for durable goods.
3.3 Test report
The bench test report may be requested before or after purchase, via WhatsApp. It contains: test date, protocol executed, results obtained and the signature of the responsible technician.
4. TECHNICAL REPORT: WARRANTY DOCUMENTATION
Every module repaired by ECM Tech Center is shipped with a Technical Report, which is the formal warranty document. The report contains:
- Service order identification;
- Module data (part number, manufacturer, vehicle model);
- Defect identified in the initial diagnosis;
- Interventions performed (components replaced, reprogramming procedures, cleaning, etc.);
- Results of post-repair functional tests;
- Completion date and warranty term;
- Identification of the responsible technician.
Keep the technical report. It is the document that formalizes the warranty and must be presented with any claim within the warranty term.
5. WARRANTY CLAIM PROCEDURE
Step 1: Immediate contact
When you identify the problem, get in touch without performing any intervention on the module. Any repair attempt before contacting us may invalidate the warranty analysis.
- Northeast (CE): WhatsApp +55 88 99704-1186
- South (PR): WhatsApp +55 67 99640-4607
- Brazil/International (remote): WhatsApp +55 11 91058-7703
Step 2: Technical description
Provide: the service order or order number, the observed symptom (with a detailed description and, if available, the DTC fault code and a video of the symptom on the vehicle), and the date on which the problem was identified.
Step 3: Preliminary assessment
ECM Tech Center responds within 24 business hours with a preliminary assessment of the report and, if the case falls under the warranty, provides a prepaid shipping label for customers in Brazil (shipping paid by ECM Tech Center). For international customers, round-trip shipping costs for warranty claims are agreed on a case-by-case basis (generally split between the parties or borne by the customer, given the nature of international shipping).
Step 4: Diagnosis and resolution
Upon receiving the module, we perform the diagnosis within 3 (three) business days and communicate the result. If covered by the warranty: rework performed at no cost. If not covered: an explanatory report and an optional quote for a new repair.
6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY UNDER THE WARRANTY
ECM Tech Center's liability in the event of a warranty claim is limited to: (a) reworking the service, or (b) replacing the module with an equivalent one, or (c) refunding the amount paid for the service or product. ECM Tech Center is not liable for consequential damages arising from the period during which the module is unavailable, such as lost profits or replacement vehicle costs.
